Ok ok, so this isn’t about an actual smoothie ‘date’ per say, but Medjool dates are about one of the most wonderful things to put into a smoothie. They are naturally great sweeteners that are also packed full of vitamins, minerals and fibre. Not only can they add a little punch of natural sweetness into you smoothie, Medjool dates can also help with cholesterol and boost your bone health. Who would say no to that??
Banana Cinnamon Date (Smoothie)
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 4 large pitted Medjool dates, lightly chopped
- 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (if desired)
- 1 small banana
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- splash of orange juice (if desired)
- Crushed ice (enough to reach desired thickness)
Blend everything together until the dates are completely chopped up and everything is smooth.
I absolutely love the banana/cinnamon/date combination in this smoothie. Actually, the combination of all these ingredients are just fabulous. It’s like an’adult’ version of the traditional banana smoothie. And if you ask me, you can’t go wrong with cinnamon either… but I’ll get into that another day!
